A devastating crash in Louth left an infant in critical condition, while two adults and a teenager sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The incident occurred on Saturday evening along the R132 at Dowdallshill, Dundalk, around 8:20pm, prompting a swift emergency response from Gardaí and other services.
In the first vehicle, a woman in her late 20s was rescued from the scene and transported to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda with non-life-threatening injuries. The infant boy, a passenger in the same car, was taken to Temple Street Children’s University Hospital in Dublin, where he remains in a critical state.
The second vehicle involved in the crash carried a man in his early 50s and a teenage girl as a passenger. Both were removed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, with non-life-threatening injuries.
At present, the R132 has been closed to allow Forensic Collision Investigators to examine the scene, with local diversions in place. Investigations into the crash are ongoing.
